Thunder Bunny Racing to Join the Pirelli GT4 America Fight

Thunder Bunny Racing is thrilled to announce its entry into the highly competitive Pirelli GT4 America series for the 2025 season. The team will make its debut in the AM class, fielding a Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2. This marks Thunder Bunny Racing’s first season in the series, with drivers Allen Patten and Laura Hayes also competing in GT4 America for the first time.

Known for its passion, versatility, and proven success across various racing disciplines, Thunder Bunny Racing has chosen the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 as their weapon of choice for 2025. The team has already enjoyed considerable success with their GR Supra GT4s in other racing series, including the World Racing League and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, where they have claimed championships, wins, and numerous podium finishes.

Allen Patten brings impressive speed and experience to the team. His background includes dominating competition in GridLife, where he set track records in every event he entered in 2024 with his Toyota Supra — a car modified and prepared by Thunder Bunny Racing and Jax Speed. Allen is eager to take this next step in his racing career.

“I’m excited to take on a new challenge in GT4 America. Thunder Bunny Racing has been instrumental in getting me to this point, and I’m ready to bring everything I’ve learned to the track,” Patten said.

Laura Hayes, a California native, will have the opportunity to race in her home state for the first time since 2008. She grew up racing shifter karts on the kart track overlooking Sonoma Raceway but never had the chance to race on the iconic circuit until now.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to race alongside my friend Allen and the Thunder Bunny Racing family,” Hayes said. “We’ve come a long way together, and I’m excited to take this next step with TBR. Our team has so much potential, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve on a bigger stage.”

2024 G80 BMW M3 Competition Carbahn Stage 2 Install

The BMW G80 M3 Competition isn’t just about straight-line speed; its handling capabilities are razor-sharp. With that being said, this customer wanted to push more power out of the 3-liter twin-turbocharged inline 6, along with all the noise that comes with making well over 700 horsepower.

Our expert team here at Thunder Bunny Racing, including our in-house Performance Advisor, assisted the customer in finding and weigh their options for tunes and upgrades, eventually landing on the Carbahn Stage 2 kit. The kit includes an exhaust, ECU tune, and a few more upgrades to ensure reliability. Once all the parts arrived our certified technicians began work to make this road-going race car even better. With all the Stage 2 upgrades complete, this car not only sounded better but also left going quite a bit faster. And best of all, these upgrades were done quickly and efficiently by our in-house BMW specialists right here in Greenville, South Carolina.

2005 Lotus Elise Dashboard Diagnosis

When it comes to lightweight sports cars that deliver a pure driving experience, few can match the charm and character of the 2005 Lotus Elise. With its striking design and exhilarating performance, this iconic vehicle embodies the essence of what a sports car should be: agile, responsive, and incredibly fun to drive. 

This Lotus vehicle came to Thunder Bunny Racing to have the dash instrument cluster repaired. The speedometer suddenly stopped working, and with this issue coming about rather quickly the customer knew the car would be in good hands at our shop. 

Once the car arrived, our technicians got to work diagnosing the issue. The instrument cluster was removed in a matter of minutes and sent out for repair. After we received the cluster back we reinstalled it and took the vehicle on a test drive—everything worked as it should and this Lotus Elise was ready to be picked up.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4RS Track Build

The 2024 Porsche GT4RS is already a capable track car right from the factory, but if there’s one thing we believe here at TBR, it’s that there is always room for improvement. We know that taking any car out on a race track is a risky and dangerous hobby, but we love doing it, and encourage our customers to drive their cars the way they’re meant to be driven. With that, most high-end “track-ready” cars are not equipped with all the safety measures and chassis tuning required for a proper track day.

This new 718 Cayman GT4RS was purchased with the full intention of putting in some proper track time—and that’s where we come in.

This customer wanted to install a half-cage harness bar and a pair of Schroth racing harnesses. We worked with BBI Autosport, notorious in the Porsche world for their build quality and product integrity, to source one of their harness bars made specifically for the GT4RS. The installation required cutting into and routing portions of the cage through interior panels, trim pieces, and carpet. The stakes were high, but our expert technicians made sure everything was done precisely and finished as it would have been done in the factory. With the new harness bar installed, the car will feel more responsive on the track, in addition to adding some on-track safety features.

In addition to the cage and harnesses, we installed a camber adjustment kit from Tarett Engineering to dial in the perfect track alignment. In the end, the customer was very pleased with the installation time and the fit and finish of the new track components.

NA1 Acura NSX Full Refresh

In 1990 Acura developed the NSX an entry-level, mid-engine sports car that redefined reliability in the sports car market. This beautiful Formula Red NSX was purchased by our client back in 1992 and has been meticulously maintained the entirety of its life. The age of a few important components had timed out which brought this JDM icon under the TBR roof for a full refresh. 

This vehicle went through a complete teardown here at Thunder Bunny Racing. Everything from brakes, suspension, and exhaust to the engine and drivetrain was completely redone by our expert technicians. With all this work being completed this Acura NSX will be running for years to come.

Porsche 911 Turbo S Track Tuning

Our clients have great taste in the vehicles, and even better—often track their cars and drive them the way they’re meant to be driven. This particular customer has been a regular at the shop since purchasing his 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S for everything from custom upgrades to regularly scheduled oil changes and maintenance.

On this occasion, he wanted to lower his ride height to maximize on-track performance and complete a few other regular maintenance items. The customer had a track day coming up and wanted to get his Turbo S set up with a track alignment—the same process we use on our race cars. Our skilled technicians at Thunder Bunny Racing made short work of this and had the car turned around and ready for some track day fun in under 48 hours. 

This Porsche 911 Turbo S, and many cars like it come into the shop every day for regular maintenance, repairs, and performance upgrades. Corvette C8 ZO6 Lowering Springs & Wheel Spacers

The introduction of the C8 Corvette Z06 has taken the world by storm, with not only its sleek redesign, but the performance as well. This customer was looking for a more aggressive stance on his vehicle, more aggressive than what the factory look provided. At Thunder Bunny Racing we do not shy away from any projects so as soon as this beautiful C8 Corvette Z06 arrived we got to work. In order to achieve this look we ordered a set of Paragon Lowering Collars (#PP-S0001-2) as well as a pair of Paragon 15mm Wheel Spacers (#PP-15-C8-SP) for the rear wheels. 

We chose to use the Paragon brand for this project because of their attention to detail in their products and the overall quality. The install was seamless and the C8 Z06 Corvette was out of the shop by the end of the day. At Thunder Bunny Racing we pride ourselves in our turnaround time on projects and operate on a strict schedule. 

The customer was amazed at how quick we finished the job and was very satisfied with the new look of his C8 Corvette Z06.

TECHART x Porsche 718 Cayman S

What makes a Porsche 718 Cayman S better? More power, obviously. As the best place for Porsche maintenance and service, a customer chose Thunder Bunny Racing to do just that, but without ruining the quality of his ride. Our experts chose TECHART as the right fit for him, with their years of experience in Porsche repair and service, they knew that it would deliver more power, while still keeping the refined ride that Porsche is known for. And, as a licensed TECHART dealer, Thunder Bunny Racing is uniquely qualified to make it happen.

As you would expect, the installation went smoothly and the results were impressive. Before we installed the TECHART kit, we ran a baseline dyno pull - then installed the TECHART Power-kit TA 082/S1. After the install, and some tuning, we saw an increase of 44hp and 60 lb-ft of torque, while not degrading the quality of the Porsche’s ride at all. 

The client couldn’t be happier, his Porsche had more power, still drove as smoothly as the day he brought it in, and knew that the experts at Thunder Bunny Racing took care of his car as if it were their own. Custom Tesla Model S Plaid

At Thunder Bunny Racing we see our fair share of modified fast and unique vehicles from Greenville and the surrounding areas in the upstate. This particular vehicle was the first of its kind we’ve seen in the shop—a fully custom Tesla Model S Plaid. The owner was complaining of a vibration in his steering wheel. We were quick to diagnose that this Tesla needed an alignment. 

With electric vehicles becoming more and more prevalent we knew we needed to adapt. Our technicians have taken a number of classes to learn how these vehicles differ from traditional internal combustion engines. Thunder Bunny Racing is not a Tesla-certified shop yet, but that process has started and in the meantime, we are happy to offer alignment and wheel and tire services. 

As far as the alignment went, we fit this customer on the schedule and he waited in our lobby and lounge while the work was done on the Tesla Model S Plaid. While waiting for his alignment the customer got a tour of our facility and enjoyed our scenic view overlooking the lake on the Hartness Property.

Shark Blue 911 GT3

Porshe knew exactly what they were doing when they created the Porsche 911 GT3. The aggressive body lines paired with 4.0 six-cylinder motor make this machine any car guy’s perfect vehicle. This particular client spec’d his GT3 in a stunning Shark Blue and was loving everything about his new ride. However, he asked if we could install a virtual mirror—similar to the option in the new C8 Corvette—so he could see past his wing taking up the entire back glass.

While we had never done something like this on a street car we let the customer know were very familiar with the process having done it on a number of our race cars—like our Toyota GR Supra GT4s and Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport. He trusted our certified technicians to do the job and within a week we had the camera and mirror wired up and installed in his vehicle. The camera placement was perfect and exactly what the customer was looking for.
